Matiks, an India‑based gaming company that builds math, logic and puzzle games, has raised $10 million in a pre‑Series A round led by General Catalyst. Ronnie Screwvala and Info Edge Ventures also participated. The company announced the funding on Monday, October 26, 2026, and said total funding now exceeds $13.5 million.
Matiks has been available for two years but gained most of its traction this year. Its daily users grew from 22,000 earlier in the year to more than 300,000 by September, and the app had 2.2 million monthly active users that month. The company has 41 full‑time employees.
Players choose from four categories: Math, Puzzle, Memory and Logic. They practise against bots and then play head‑to‑head against other users. The app also includes challenges and quests that earn points and help players keep streaks going.
Matiks was founded in September 2024 by college friends Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar and Sushant Timmapur. Bhatia has a background in competitive mental math and began working on the idea while developing an anti‑money‑laundering strategy at American Express. The team started from the observation that mental math, puzzles and memory games already have competitive communities, and that the same competitive format could be made as engaging as sport or short‑form entertainment.
The company says it is trying to win back screen time from passive scrolling and from timelines filled with AI‑generated content.
Matiks has also introduced Jelo, an experimental game creation platform that uses AI and lets users make their own games and share them for others to play. Jelo enters a field that includes Google's new platform called Playground. The company plans to use part of the new funding to scale Jelo.
Matiks has concentrated on user growth so far and began testing a subscription this month. It has not published revenue figures.
Beyond India, the company reports traction in the United States, South Korea and Japan, and it plans to add localisation to grow further in South Korea and Japan. The funding will go towards expanding into newer markets and scaling the platform.
Matiks previously raised $3.1 million in a pre‑Series A round led by Tanglin Ventures, with participation from Info Edge Ventures and angel investors including Aman Gupta and Gaurav Munjal. At that time, it had around 100,000 users. That earlier money was meant for team expansion, marketing, new products and entry into new markets. The company also runs a Discord community and a paid creators programme.
Head‑to‑head brain games have had earlier waves of popularity. QuizUp reached millions of users at its peak, and battle royale games such as Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds later took the spotlight. Growth in mobile games has slowed lately as AI‑generated content has multiplied across platforms, which is the backdrop Matiks cites for its focus on competitive, human‑versus‑human play.
Matiks did not disclose its valuation.
